Streets of St. Petersburg The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is an IndyCar race held in St. Petersburg, Florida. Typically the season opener since 2009, it runs on a temporary street circuit including part of Albert Whitted Airport. The event began in 1985 and saw IndyCars race from 2003. After brief hiatuses and format changes, it switched to the IndyCar Series in 2005. Firestone became the title sponsor in 2014.
